About Me

Hello Everyone!
Now I'm gonna to tell you about me. My name is Judith Alvarado Castillo. I'm born in Copiapó, one city in the north of Chile, I studied in The Palomar School until the seven grades and when I was 11 years old with my family we moved to Coquimbo, because my older sister joined to the University Catholic Of  North in the medicine career, and with my parents decided to go along with her. The first years were very difficult, because I not adapted to my new school, the called Cardenal José María Caro School, it was a Catholic school, but I not catholic person, and never liked it. When I started my secundary, I changed to school, and started in Liceo de Administración y Comerio Estado de Israel, this is a technical high school, I chose it because I didn’t know if I could go to university. In this place I met my best friends and had a great time. In Coquimbo there is more Culture than in Copiapó, for this I started going to cinema, opera, classical concert, museum, exhibitions, and theater plays. I love this kind of activities. When I finished the high school, I gave the PSU and I was selected in the career of psychology in the University of Chile, and I decided enroll me. I moved alone to the Santiago, capital of Chile, and in this moment I stay in my second years of my career. I missed my parents, my sister and my beautiful cat, but I love my career and the culture activities of Santiago.

    I feel very identified, cause I live in stgo too and I miss my parents and my cat Floyd a lot

Hello everyone! This semester has been the most complicated of all, but there are always subjects that make everything more entertaining. My experience writing blogs

To say goodbye this last post, I want to tell you how was my experience writing blogs. At the beginning it was complicated and a bit boring, because I not accustomed to writing in English and it was hard to write the verbs in the past or future, but when I wrote more I accustomed and when I did not know a word I was looking for its translation, which helped me, as before I wrote everything in Spanish I put it in the translator and it was done, and in the end I did not learn anything. I feel that my ability to write in English has improved, I learned new words and how to write better in English, although it still It's difficult to me and it takes me a long time I feel that if I practice more I will continue to improve. In the future we could include more free themes or something related to what we are learning in classes, in order to apply it better, current topics or more personal, such as movies, music, countries, etc. In relation to the themes, most liked it, but ...

Michael Foucault

Michel Foucault is a psychologist, historian of ideas, social theorist and French philosopher. Foucault began his higher studies at the Ecole Normale Superieure, which was a prestigious school of humanities, then because of problems in his life he had to start psychiatry therapy and it is at this moment that he marveled at the psychology and decided to study it. Foucault have made a great criticism of confinement institutions, such insane asylums, prisons and hospitals, analyzing the way in which they operate. He also studied and criticized the existing vision of normality and abnormality, which is installed by the organizations of power to control and organize the population, cataloging certain people as "abnormal" when they don´t contribute to society.  When I studied it for the first time, it was a lot since I had never read this kind of reflections, and it helped me to create a more critical vision of the system.
